India SCO Trade Council Terminates Nikil Goyal’s Appointment as Honorary Trade Commissioner
Dubai, 23 September.2026 — The India SCO Trade Council announces the termination of Mr. Nikil Goyal’s appointment as Honorary Trade Commissioner, effective 23 September 2026. He is no longer authorised to use the Council’s designation, represent the Council, or communicate on its behalf.
The Council has received serious complaints concerning Mr. Goyal’s alleged use of the designation to present himself as a government representative and to approach Indian ministries, including the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The complaints also allege that he filed misleading Right to Information enquiries wjth forged documents and used responses in attempts to pressure individuals. These allegations have been referred to the appropriate authorities; the Council does not prejudge their findings.
The Council understands that complaints concerning Mr. Goyal have been submitted to respective governments in Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. It will cooperate with any lawful inquiry and provide relevant records when requested.
The Council asks ministries, institutions, businesses and members of the public to disregard any representation by Mr. Goyal that he acts for the India SCO Trade Council. Anyone who has received a communication from him using the Council’s name or designation may contact the council secretariat to verify its authenticity.
