
Secretary General H.E. Mr. Zhang Ming met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the People’s Republic of China H.E. Mr. Alberto Blanco Silva on September 4, 2024.
The Secretary General informed the Ambassador about the principles of the Organization, the outcomes of the Astana Summit and its current priorities.
Ambassador Silva highly appreciated the achievements of the SCO in countering the “three forces of evil” – terrorism, extremism and separatism, as well as in other areas of cooperation, and expressed Cuba’s readiness to further deepen ties, exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with the SCO.

Cuba has joined China’s initiative to promote “a fair and orderly world order.”The Cuban government expressed its strong support for the Global Governance Initiative, a proposal presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the closing ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.
The Chinese leader also urged the bloc to defend “inclusive globalization” and strengthen the “multilateral trading system” with the World Trade Organization (WTO) as its “cornerstone,” especially in the aftermath of the trade war unleashed by the United States.
In front of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Xi Jinping recommended that the SCO “oppose the Cold War mentality, confrontation between sides, and intimidation.”
The Cuban government announced the upcoming visit of President Miguel Díaz-Canel as part of a tour of Asia, during which he plans to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
